Since late 2000, I've worked with Hard Rock on their Web projects, starting with re-designing their existing website, consisting of more than 100 pages, none of which followed any sort of system, template, pattern, or methodology of any sort. No brand focus, no real guidelines to follow, and other extraneous Hard Rock properties had to be considered.
The end result of the first website re-design was a huge success, in spite of the ominous original launch date of September 11, 2001. It was easy to modify and scale, and our site schema drove the bulk of the traffic to the online store, making sure the site paid for itself.
Hard Rock brought me back in for a re-design to support a new branding initiative spearheaded by Duncan-Channon. Attributing to the success of the initial re-design, I was able to capitalize on the original templates, and for the most part, the site was simply re-skinned. I'm proud to say this version of their site was awarded the 2007 Webby Awards People's Voice Award in the restaurant category.
Beyond hardrock.com, my team also developed the interactive online version of the printed inaugural Hard Rock Annual 'zines, HardRockAnnual.com for 2005 and 2007. Both sites were built on custom Actionscript platforms, of which customized elements include classes, video players, and extensible MP3 jukeboxes.
Worth noting: The 2005 Annual site won a regional Gold ADDY (specifics coming soon).
